The PT100 sensor is a platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD) that utilizes the change in resistance of platinum with temperature to measure temperature accurately. Specifically, the PT100 has a nominal resistance of 100 ohms at 0°C, hence its name.
The PT1000 sensor is similar to the PT100 but with a nominal resistance of 1000 ohms at 0°C. This higher resistance allows for improved sensitivity and accuracy in some applications.
PT1000 sensors are often selected for applications requiring even higher accuracy than PT100, such as:
Precision measurement and control systems
High-end scientific instruments
Laboratory research
Medical devices requiring extremely precise temperature control
Both PT100 and PT1000 sensors are highly regarded for their accuracy, reliability, and versatility in temperature measurement. The choice between them often depends on the specific requirements of the application, including desired accuracy, temperature range, and environmental conditions.
